about
Welcome to the second song in our Digital 7" Series.
"Headlining" a local show is probably one of the biggest misnomers in the English language. Ain't nobody got time for three bands. Nobody stays until two in the morning.
We stole the title off the bathroom wall at Small's in Hamtramck, MI. The original quote was attributed to Fred Smith's mom. Fred's mom is a smart lady -- she knows that there aren't many more thankless jobs than being in a local rock 'n roll outfit.
"Sometimes..." also features the white hot guitar licks of one Mr. Jeremy Porter from such legendary local Detroit giants as Slugbug, The Offramps, Fidrych and most recently Jeremy Porter and the Tucos. Thanks again, Jer!
lyrics
Sing along...
I got the records, I got the songs
I got the chords, but I got 'em all wrong
I got a chorus, I'll fake a verse
I'll steal your bridge, it can't get any worse
Lightning in a bottle
You gotta catch it fast
You gotta cash that check before it's passed
Sometimes you headline, sometimes you just play last
I saw your band, the other night
You didn't draw, but your drummer was tight
I didn't stay, I gotta go
I'll catch you later, let's hook up for a show
Lightning in a bottle
You gotta catch it fast
You gotta cash that check before it's passed
Sometimes you headline, sometimes you just play last
You're burying them, he's burying me
It ain't what you got, it's who you see
Lightning in a bottle
You gotta catch it fast
You gotta cash that check before it's passed
Sometimes you headline, sometimes you just play last
